In March of 2015, the New Jersey Supreme Court declared the Council on Affordable Housing (COAH) failing and transferred jurisdiction from COAH to New Jersey trial courts in order to adjudicate municipal compliance with their affordable housing obligations. The decision permitted municipalities to file Declaratory Judgment Actions (DJ Actions) with trial courts to seek approval of their Affordable Housing Plans, or risk being sued by a developer. Customers are reminded to stay away from downed power lines, assume any downed wire is carrying electricity and call JCP&L, police or fire departments to report them.
“We want to thank our customers for their patience and understanding as we continue to work around the clock to safely restore their service,” said Jim Fakult, president of JCP&L. “The storm’s heavy wet snow, driving rains and gusting winds caused serious damage to equipment. We have more than 200 damaged poles and over 1,000 spans of downed wire.”
JCP&L is offering free water & ice to customers remaining out of service. Customers can pick up water and ice locally at the following locations:
