Charles Dickens’s “A Christmas Carol,” replete with ghostly spirits, is part of our classical heritage. We all remember Scrooge’s infamous greed and disrespect for his fellow man. Come find out why Dickens, who was fascinated with the supernatural, wrote a Christmas ghost story nearly every year, and why, at a time for joyful festivities, did he write about ghosts and superstitions? Presenter Carlotta Holton, using appropriate costumed hats, and speaking in character as Dickens’s nanny, his wife and his mistress, explores his early education, the interest in seances and the supernatural during the Victorian Age, his near death experiences, and his involvement in the London Ghost Club.
